All taxpayers can now register to vote on district parcel tax HH. And they can all vote in the board election, the first one since 2008. November 5th Vote John L. Miller for trustee. Find out what is really going on at the District.

There has not been an election for the Lakeside school board since 2008. Since then they have all been appointed by the insiders of the boards. They try to hide what they are doing. For instance in the closed meetings. They make decisions and take actions in secret. There is no discussion at board meetings. They follow whatever the superintendent tells them. He costs the district $1700 for every school day for his pay and benefits alone. And at his suggestion they hired a full-time principal and a full-time executive secretary costing in total $2300 every class day. This is a district with 5 teachers. Five teachers. That is counting one that is dedicated to special Ed.

Vote for John L. Miller and he will bring fresh air and light on the doing of the district. We will know what is going on because he will be at every meeting including the closed ones. He will demand a rational plan for reducing the costs of the district. These costs are sky high and unnecessary. $42,000 for each child.

Call (669)226-8600 to find out how to register to vote online even if you own only forest land in the district.

Even if you have raw forest land you can Register to Vote against Measure HH. Save $6,000 that is wasted on administration spending.

The Board can use much more automation and streamlining of government reporting.

Admin spending is off the charts..

The Superintendent costs the district $270,000 each year. $1500 per day. Now the board has hired a full-time principal and full-time executive assistant for a total cost of more than $500,000 or $2800 per school day $300 per classroom per day. There is no justification for this spending. One person can do this job and it does not require a PhD. There is no legal requirement to have a superintendent for this size of a district.

The classes are too small to give children the social mix they want.

I went door to door and heard from parents who wanted to move their children to another school because it is just too small. They are not able to get their children into another school district.

No water and no kitchen.

The high spending on admin is bleeding the school of even the simpliest needs.

We can do better.

We can cut admin costs if the parents want to keep the school. If the board makes a tax on square footage that every home owner pays there could be a school but with a better taxing method.

Fund more teachers..

There are now half as many admin staff as there are teachers.

Elect John Miller to have eyes and ears on all the business of the district.

The board has been skirting the state laws for open meetings. They do not give the name of court cases they are paying to defend.

The Spending at Lakeside is Insane.

Bay Area Water Trucks made 15 tanker deliveries in August to the school at a cost of $365 per delivery.

We can do it.

  • Collaborate with fellow taxpayers to protect your tax money and reduce the parcel tax.
  • Give Lakeside a true mountain culture.
  • Make Lakeside the best, more teachers and much less staff.

The Lakeside Trustees’ Three Big Problems

  • $2,500 per school day spending on non-teaching Admin staff compensation.
  • A crazy high parcel tax of $6,000 to go for a vote in November 2024.
  • They are not engaging with the taxpayers who are not voters in the district. These taxpayers own the 300 or so wild-life refuges in the District.

“The Lakeside District Board is spending on administration like you cannot believe.. more than $2,500 for every school day”

John Miller

Candidate for the Lakeside Board of Trustees, November 2024.
